The Big Day!

Girls really look forward to have their dream wedding. One time I've read a blog post regarding the cost of getting married in the Philippines. What??? I find it overwhelming to spend a lot for weddings alone considering there are some finances that lie ahead. I've been married nearly 16 months and the expenses is way different between single and married life.  Even if you can afford all the cost, I think it's still wise to spend a "just right" amount.

Of course weddings are meant to be beautiful. In fact it's possible to have a great but cost effective wedding. The list really goes on and on if you are preparing for the big day. So planning is really a must. Cut the cost as much as you can like what we did. Haha! If you have a budget of let's say 100,000 just be sure you still have that same amount in your bank. Just my own opinion though.

Allow me to share "how resourceful" we are. :P Everything can just be so simple yet you'll love it. You may not believe it, but we only spent three weeks preparation. At some point you have to break with traditions and have the wedding your way.
1. Prenup/Wedding/Reception Photos
Memories are really valuable. Capture them! I'm a picture lover myself. I really am! Superb! I have them in albums, scrapbook,  CDs, the cloud and everywhere. What we did was to find some friends with great skills in photography and see how much they charge. We're just so blessed enough that our prenup, wedding, and reception photos are all free. The best things in life are FREE! We have Manong Lee Brent for our Prenup, my brother in law Alex during the wedding, brother in law Rhyan and my friend Louie for our reception. Many thanks to them!

One way of paying forward, my husband also took prenup shots for our friends getting married for free. :)

2. Invitation
Invitations can be costly too. My husband is just so creative so he made a layout for our invitation and we just have it printed. Here's one photo we included. We did not have a photographer with this. Just TIMER wise! You can do it too! And you can have as many retakes you want. hihi.

Just think of unique but pocket friendly ways for your invitation.

3. Reception
Butch spearheaded with planning for the reception. He's more artistic than me. We just have it at IPIR Building and it's totally free! His best friend Brother Jhon Torillo assisted him with the set up. We have some DIY photo props too.

Our friends really helped a lot with the program. We have Tita Darl and Nong Arvin for hosting the programme, Shaun for the music, Roy&Owen for the special number, niece and nephew for the talent.

4. Wedding Outfit
So blessed to have fashion designer Tito Mandy Salcedo for my wedding gown. It's elegant and pocket friendly (kay may discount ako :P). Girls would really want to have a wedding gown and preserve them even if it outgrows them in time. Haha! Luckily my wedding gown still fits. (until when?)

Wedding bouquet made by my Nanay Pacit. :)

5. Travel
Thanks to Cebu Pacific for promo fairs. Basically we just spent on our airfair and our parent's airfair of course.

6. Food
Food and drinks good for 100 guests were catered by Francisco's. They also provided the chairs, tables for our guests & tables for the gifts and cake. They also did the skirting for the tables. Service is good! PM me if you need their digits.

Our cake was ordered from a home-based business from Molo. Just ask me if you're interested so I can refer you to them. So affordable and yummy!

Over all we spent more or less between 40-43K the most. That already covered the things I mentioned above. And it's really our own money.  Yey!  You will feel more accomplished if you spend your own money than simply asking from your parents. Trust me.

See? Weddings really don't need to reach 6 figures at your expense. Oh be wise, what can I say more? In my own point of view, I'd rather keep our money for savings or emergency funds than spend it all out for the occasion. After all marriage is an ordinance and not just a one time event.

Have a great time planning for your big day!
